Essay / The Sniper Character Analysis: An Analysis of the "Sniper"
The Sniper AnalysisThe thirty-fourth President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, said a day: “I hate war as a simple soldier who has seen its brutality. , its inevitability and its stupidity. This quote is about the sniper since in the short story Liam O'flaherty states that a young man in the story is on a roof fighting in the civil war in Ireland. O' Flaherty writes this short story about a sniper fighting in the war to describe how brutal the war is. A way used to describe how horrible the fights are. Liam describes how the warrior hasn't eaten in a long time, and when he finally manages to eat, he only eats a small sandwich. O'flaherty writes this to describe the brutality of war and what a sniper soldier uses many areas where things are done to people that should not be done if the world could just get along. The Sniper is about a civil war in Ireland, comparable to the horrible things happening to Syrian citizens who flee their country for a better life due to the unbearable and horrible living conditions there (Rodgers, 2015). . Furthermore, the rebellion of Muslims in the country has brought people who shouldn't do things like using children and women as weapons, just like Liam uses an old lady to search for snipers in his story (Rodgers , 2015). Liam O'flaherty describes the sacrifices you must make while in combat, such as when he describes that the sniper hasn't eaten in a very long time and makes do with a small sandwich that he swallows extremely quickly. This sacrifice is comparable to those made during the siege of Leningrad, where a million lives were lost in nine hundred days after Germany invaded the Soviet Union and the warriors were trapped in a brutal cold (Crowley, 1996). Liam expresses an excellent amount of tension when he states that the sniper has been shot in the arm and must use his knife to cut his parapet and open his things for the gunshot wounds so he can have a more great chance of surviving, since O' Flaherty gives us as good a description as we can. Liam wrote the short story to describe to the reader the horrible lifestyle of the soldier who must fight. He does a great job depicting the sacrifices and brutality warriors go through to defend their country and the pride they take in defending their country or beliefs. If the author does not write about it, the reader or the people of the world might not realize what a warrior has to go through to defend his country or his beliefs. The only reason he wrote that was to show sympathy to the snipers who lived their lives with the fact that they killed someone. Additionally, this was written to inform the reader of what the soldiers do for the people and what they fight for. What is beautiful about this story is how it describes why they fought and the strength it takes to fight in a war. War is one of the deadliest and most horrible things a person has to face.
