Essay / School Safety: Fire Drills - 1546
Across the country, millions of students attend unsafe school. Whether it’s physical safety or emotional safety, everyone is affected. At school, more than 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. This is an issue that will be addressed within the framework of social and emotional safety. At MM KK School, only three fire drills are held per year while state policy states that there should be one per month. This issue will be addressed in the Exercise Safety section. In addition to social and emotional safety and exercise safety, building safety, concussion safety, and technology safety will all be addressed. The theme of school safety is at the center of the Citizen project. Project Citizen is a way for seventh graders to help improve their community. This year the central theme is school safety. To better understand this topic, students viewed websites and videos. To succeed in Project Citizen, students must work hard, research well, work as a team (for the group portion of Project Citizen), and be organized. To stay organized, students created a document where they kept track of the information they needed as well as useful websites. Additionally, they had taken steps to stay organized. The first step in this process was to identify the problem. In this case, the issue is school safety. The next step is to investigate this problem. This was achieved by going to specific websites. The third step in the process was to evaluate possible solutions. This was achieved by going through our research and coming up with ideas for each subtopic. The final step in the process is to develop public policy ideas and choose the best solution. This was done by placing the different policies in different situations to see which middle of paper suffers because of this. If a student commits suicide, he will never be able to enjoy what life has to offer. If this problem is not addressed, suicide rates could increase even more than they already have. In 2001, there were 30,622 suicides. In 2010, there were 38,364 suicides. This represents more than seven thousand additional people. If this increases, we will reach 40,000 by two thousand and sixteen. This can't happen. This problem is often discussed in the community, but little is done. Some states have done something about this. In Washington, there is a law that prohibits harassment. The same law is in effect in Illinois. This law has not been of much help, probably due to lack of enforcement. Many parents have complained about bullying at their school, but little action has been taken. Only in cases of suicide are measures taken.
