Essay / The Importance of Online Shopping - 1379
Online shopping will be more popular than traditional shopping, which means a growing economy due to increasing e-commerce and online sales. Elaine Giles says people are realizing that the number of shopping websites will increase (Daily Telegraph Reporter 2009). According to Forrester Research, online sales will double from $16.9 billion in 2009 to $33.3 billion in 2015. Online sales are growing 10% annually. Large retailers, who wish to change the GST abroad, have developed their own online sales strategies (Apostolou 2011, p. 32). They know that savings will be positively affected by online shopping. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu insurance and consulting partner Andrew Griffiths CA says the retail sector has grown rapidly across all segments (Apostolou 2011, p. 35). Indeed, one report shows that online commerce has increased by 12% compared to last year (Bainbridge 2013). Thus, traditional retail will suffer if it does not grow due to the spread of online commerce.
