Throughout world history, exploration has been a major factor in the evolution of the world, but who is the greatest explorer? One explorer that caught my attention was the explorer and navigator Pedro Alvares Cabral. Pedro Cabral was a Portuguese born between 1467 and 1468 in Belmonte, Portugal. He was born into a “noble Portuguese family” (Elizabethan-era.org.uk, nd) and was thus able to receive a proper and advanced education. Looking deeper into the life of Pedro Alvares Cabral, I consider him the best explorer of all time for several reasons: Cabral was a man who had the right attitude in his exploration of the world, adding to the achievements of past successful journeys to improve the results, and also made his own discoveries with success of his mission. All of this shows how Cabral surpasses even better-known explorers of time. During long and dangerous journeys around the world, the emotions you represent have major effects on the outcomes of events. Pedro Alvares Cabral was a man who controlled his attitude and, in turn, this contributed to the success of his journey. An example that proves this argument is that Cabral was an explorer who "made a special effort to treat the locals with kindness, receiving them aboard his caravel" (Britannica.com, nd). This quote was taken in a context referring to Cabral. turn people alongside him in Brazil and have them accompany him on his journey as help. With this kind of display of emotion, Cabral showed that he was capable of accomplishing something that other, more energetic explorers could not, free extra help. Along with this event, Cabral was also able to show his deep mental strength in the form of anger and revenge. During his journey, Cabral and his men were... middle of paper... while fulfilling the requirements given to him. In addition to this, Cabral was also able to find lands that had not yet been touched by other explorers before him and claim them for Portugal to call their own. Taking all of this together, it is evident that Pedro Alvares Cabral surpasses and outclasses all other explorers due to his great mind, excellent work, and additional discoveries from his time away from Portugal.
