Essay / Motivation Statement as an Aerospace Engineer
I aspire to gain academic and research experience in the field of aerospace engineering and believe that the University's Aerospace Engineering Graduate Program Nanyang technology in collaboration with TU Munich offers me a good opportunity. to learn and work with some of the most renowned professors in these fields. I developed a keen interest in mechanical sciences, particularly in the areas of finite element methods, aerodynamics and CAD, during my undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering (B.Tech) at Amrita University, which later evolved when I joined Infosys as a Design Engineer. My undergraduate studies at Amrita University helped me gain insight into various fields of study in mechanical sciences and paved the way for discovering my research interests. It was in 3rd year of engineering, I visited “Hypersonic and Shockwave Research Laboratory, IISc Bangalore”. There I had the opportunity to observe cutting-edge research programs in the field of aerospace engineering and also the opportunity to verify live the operation of the shock tubes used in aerodynamic testing, reproducing the conditions in the turbine sections of jet engines and also in biomedical research. The results of these experiments are used to determine various materials and designs suitable for blast wave attenuation. It was this visit that gave me an idea of the complexities involved in designing an aircraft and flying it, as well as the opportunities available to me to explore further and carry out research. Out of interest, I started learning about the different terminologies used in the aerospace field and gained knowledge about Mach numbers, airfoils, and flight controls. Florian Holzapfel, Optimization of computer-aided design of modern turboshaft engine components by Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Stefan Weihard. I have also been closely linked to the field of design and if I get a chance to work in this field, I think it would be more than helpful in improving my practical knowledge. With a genuine desire to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with your college and also to make maximum use of all opportunities afforded to me and pursue my goals, I look forward to the favorable consideration of my application..
