Essay / The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini - 887
Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, from minor to major mistakes. But the most important thing is not the error itself, but the efforts made by that person to correct that error. This also applies to the novel The Kite Runner. The story revolves around the main character Amir and his childhood friend, Hassan. After Amir comes to America with Baba, his father, he still regrets what he did to his childhood friend. He left Hassan to be raped by Assef in a small alley in 1975. Afterward, Amir still feels regret and seeks redemption. Hosseini, the author, argues that redemption can be achieved by helping others, teaching others not to repeat the same mistake, recognizing your mistake and trying to fix it. Hosseini argues that redemption can be achieved by doing good deeds for others. Baba lied to Amir and Hassan, he shamed Ali by sleeping with Ali's wife. Baba therefore wants to do something good for others in order to achieve redemption: “In the late 1960s, when I was five or six years old, Baba decided to build an orphanage” (Hosseini 13). Hosseini states that because Baba harmed Ali as well as Hassan and Amir, he wants to build an orphanage so that his family will have a good opinion of him. Because he lied to Amir and Hassan, he wants to be a good father in their lives. eyes as well as a great man to everyone. So Baba tries to achieve redemption by building an orphanage for homeless children. This is not Baba's only action to achieve redemption. After Baba and Amir arrive in America, he gets a job at a gas station and saves money to do the last thing for Amir, organize a wedding for Amir and Soraya. "Baba spent $35,000, nearly the balance of his savings, on the awroussi, the wedding ceremony" (169), Hosseini proves his weapon...... middle of paper ...... his actions and wants redemption. So this proves Hosseini's point that a person will always achieve redemption if they work hard to fix it. Hosseini proved that his points about redemption can be achieved if a person can help others, tell them not to make the same mistakes he did. and most importantly, realize your mistake and do your best to fix it. The most important thing is not the mistake itself, but how you correct the errors, and if you decide to fix it, you must strive for redemption. Because everyone makes mistakes, even the smallest and the most serious, mistakes are part of your life, humans make mistakes to move forward and gain experience. The most important thing is that you realize your mistakes and try to fix them. Works Cited Hosseini, Khaled. The kite runner. New York: Riverhead, 2003. Print.
