Hospital Case AnalysisHospitals are an integral part of every individual's life. When we think of hospitals, we think of aid (Hospitals Struggle to Keep Their Promises). Neither a person's age, ethnicity, or economic background should matter when it comes to accessing health care. Everyone will need hospital care at some point in their life, regardless of their health status. This is reality. Unfortunately, many of these organizations are in danger. “Hospitals are experiencing a period of financial difficulty unprecedented in recent history. The number of hospitals that have closed is at an all-time high, and many more may close in the coming years” (Moore et al, 1999). It is ironic that institutions like Faith Community Hospital, which provide health care and even save lives, are facing serious problems. Issues that need to be addressed early to avoid compromising an individual's access to healthcare should those same issues lead to hospital closure. Faith Community Hospital is currently facing a variety of problems caused by a few issues. The first problem is the mission statement established at Faith Community Hospital. It is instilled in every member who works in the establishment. The staff went so far as to include it on the back of everyone's business cards so that anyone receiving a card would read it as well. This is a mission statement that, when implemented, was well-intentioned and meant to unify everyone at Faith Community Hospital, but instead caused problems. The second problem is the lack of concrete organizational policies or guidelines regarding certain practices in the hospital. In some cases, misinterpretation of the mission statement and lack of concrete organizational policies and/or guidelines are the cause of certain staff actions, which in turn endangers the institution . our spiritual heritage and values, our mission is to promote the health and well-being of people in the communities we serve through a full continuum of services provided in collaboration with partners who share the same vision and the same values” (resource). The mission statement is too broad and the way it is written leaves room for a wide variety of interpretations. This is what is happening and causing a number of problems within different departments at Faith Community Hospital..
