Intro: What is the health problem associated with body image? Body image plays a major role in a teenager's life and can have both negative and positive effects on their well-being. Body image refers to how a person feels and how their shape, weight, height, and more can force them to feel unattractive or incomparable to others. This report explores issues relating to young Australians and the effects body image can have on them. It will identify many of the social, emotional, physical and mental problems of young Australians and the long and short term effects this has had on them. Individual and community risk reductions will be discussed as well as ways we can all prevent the negative effects of body image on adolescents. Throughout, many statistics will be presented as well as the damning facts that can arise with negative body image. Steps and precautions can also be taken to improve and eliminate body image issues, as well as ways to identify if someone close to you is experiencing this issue. Risk reduction strategies will be covered throughout and procedures we can follow to prevent the negative effects of body image on adolescents. There will also be a summary of what has been implemented in communities before this day to eliminate the negative consequences of negative body image. Images will be included to show the graphic and horrific size of men and women who face this persistent problem, as well as the effects it has on their bodies physically. When girls are young, they are still trying to find themselves. They may later learn that Santa and Barbie aren't real, but that doesn't mean problems like eating disorders won't start before they find out. I think more attention should be paid to talents and skills such as music and studies. If the media demanded we eliminate photoshopping and have healthy weight models, I think the world would be happier and less stressed. We live in a false and cruel world in which, unfortunately, only some people can ignore faulty images. Changing the media would not only change our perception of ourselves, but also our perception of those around us. Changing perceptions would eliminate harsh criticism and create a better example for the future.
