Positive feedback, for example, increases the magnitude of a change and moves body chemistry away from the set point. On the other hand, if any of the homeostatic values are disrupted, the body will start working towards the set point. This process, called negative feedback, neutralizes a change that is or has occurred and returns a variable to the set point. One case is that of blood, which helps regulate various levels in the body to maintain homeostasis by ensuring that pH and electrolyte values are within normal parameters necessary for cells to function properly. Another example would be where the pancreas secretes insulin in response to an increase in blood sugar. Survival depends on the body's ability to maintain homeostasis and promoting good health will increase your chances of living a long and healthy life.
