Orthodox theory suggests that the employment relationship is a “transaction like any other”, the exchange of work services for financial reward. Discuss. Orthodox theory suggested that the employee-employer relationship was as fundamental as the performance of work and the payment of money equivalent to the work generated or produced by an employee. This employment model could work during and before the industrial revolution, when the capitalist could employ people to do basic production work and pay them based on the time or labor (number of units of production) produced by the workers. workers. However, as the economy grew and innovation and services came into play, the orthodox theory became impractical. The very principle on which the theory is based, that obtaining labor services in exchange for money, is wrong. This is because employers and employees would always have conflicting goals; human interpretation (employee versus employer) remains subjective and therefore the objective of obtaining the service instead of money is not always achieved. Even if the starting point of the employment relationship always remains the remuneration deemed suitable for the type of work that an employee produces, it is after all only a starting point and it is certainly not the only thing that 'an employee would consider before joining the organization. This also clearly shows that if an organization is to succeed, the employer-employee relationship will have to succeed and this can only happen when the employer and employee have common goals and are well juxtaposed with the organizational vision and goals in their together.
