Essay / Impact of child abuse on mental health - 1491
MethodologyThe method used to observe the impact of child abuse on the mental health of older people (65 years and over) is quantitative research. By using quantitative research design, researchers are able to obtain a numerical answer to this research question. The researcher is trying to understand how previous child abuse affects a person in this age group (65+) and how it also affects their mental health. Extensive research has been conducted on the impact of childhood abuse on young or younger adults. over 65 years (Sullivan, TP et al, 2006; Chartier, MJ, Walker, JR, Nalmark, B. 2009). However, due to the lack of research on the impact of childhood maltreatment on individuals aged 65 and over, this research will be exploratory in design. Exploratory research is done when there is little literature on a topic (Krysik & Finn, 2013). As part of the pre-experimental research design, this experiment will be a one-time case study (Krysik & Finn, 2013). No interventions will be used in the experiment, since we are simply trying to learn how previous child abuse affects participants' mental health. Sampling planWith the general research question “What is the impact of child abuse on the mental health of older people?” » The population is made up of adults aged 65 and over who suffered sexual, physical or emotional abuse as children. This population is a protected population due to the individual's experience of child maltreatment, as well as their mental health status. Due to the unknown number of people in this population, it would be necessary to study a sample. The sample will come from Jacksonville, Florida. Due to the invisibility of the population, a sampling frame cannot be developed. Without the ...... middle of paper ......Bad(3) Neutral(4) Good(5) ExceptionalB.
