    At the beginning of the dream, the soundtrack is a beating heart and slowly transforms into suspenseful and disturbing music. This eerie soundtrack plays while Ariadne and Cobb sit in the cafe. There, there is no background noise from their surroundings. The typical noises of an urban environment are strangely absent, leading the viewer to suspect that the scene is not entirely taking place in reality. Also, once the street starts exploding, there is no sound other than the sound of objects exploding. No bystanders shout and there is very little movement during the scene other than objects exploding. The color of this scene is also very atypical. Most of the boxes and crates that explode are brown and nondescript. Slowly, the colors blend together as the stands of fruit begin to explode. The color and music of the scene destabilize the viewer through the numerous shifts present. Through these inconsistencies, the viewer can deduce that the scene is not entirely real but that it is also too real to be completely imaginary.
