Do we ever think about the number of children who suffer from obesity? Many people have not realized that childhood obesity is slowly becoming a serious problem here in the United States. Our government should take childhood obesity very seriously to solve this problem. The government and other citizens should care about childhood obesity because everyone here is a human being. Not all children may be affected by this problem, but there will always be a child suffering from obesity. The government should also care because many of these children can possibly be the future of our country. If they deprive these children of any form of help, the country also loses its next engineers, doctors or police officers. There are many causes of obesity and many solutions also need to be found to solve childhood obesity. Global childhood obesity must be taken seriously because many parents desperately need help for their children. Childhood obesity was recognized in 1909 by insurance companies after evaluating their statistics. “Obesity is defined as an abnormal increase in fat in the subcutaneous connective tissue (Kelly 5). This definition is debated among doctors and the most common way to determine if another person is obese is simply to look at them. However, Kelly says some professionals are not accurate when determining whether a person has obesity. According to the Mayo Clinic, childhood obesity occurs when a child exceeds their weight for their height and age. There are various causes when it comes to childhood obesity, which is why it is difficult to point out one specific factor. If we don't take care of them, how can we hope to save other people suffering from other types of problems? It's easy for others to think that obesity can be solved somehow. However, they don't realize that to solve this problem, they will have to work on it little by little.
