Essay / Chemical weapons in Syria - 1067
Why do countries use chemical weapons against innocent people? I understand that there can be a conflict between two sides, but why are civilians the most affected? There is an ongoing debate in Syria over who used chemical weapons and who is responsible for the attack. Although the Syrian president and the rebels blame each other for the chemical attack, the ongoing debate shows that both sides used chemical weapons and the question of who is responsible for the death and destruction they have caused. In late 2013, US intelligence journalists claimed that chemical weapons had been used in Syria. Furthermore, during the civil war, many innocent people died. The rebels and the government have caused much destruction in Syria due to their feuds. US intelligence sent journalists to Syria to gather evidence to determine whether or not chemical weapons had been used. This issue was addressed by Foreign Policy Editor Noah Shachtman in his article "Exclusive: Intercepted Calls Prove Syrian Army Used Nerve Gas, U.S. Spies Say" when he explained: "The Soil, blood and other environmental samples were positive for reactions with a nerve agent. .” This evidence reveals that, in one way or another, chemical weapons were used in Syria, but the question remains who is responsible for the attack. Both sides blame each other and no one knows which side used the chemicals. Despite all the destruction caused by civil war, war also affects innocent civilians. In the same article, Noah also acknowledges "There are videos of young victims that show people who can barely breathe and shaking, as well as interviews with their doctors. » This evidence refers to how people are influenced because of...... middle of paper ......r the explosion happened, the government armed forces protected us and took care of us too I saw the car that planted the bomb near my school and it said Al-Qaeda which is the rebels. These are the main reasons why I believe it was the rebels, not the president, who used these chemicals. As a result, both sides should be punished for the destruction and death they have caused. I think they both made mistakes. The rebels should have said what they wanted peacefully without hurting anyone and the government should have tried to compromise with the rebels so that they could keep the peace. This is important because the war began less than three years ago and has caused death and destruction in the country. The debate should end soon and they should find out who is responsible so they can start rebuilding the places they destroyed and give civilians a safe place to live..
