  • Essay / Natural Herbal Living Magazine and Herb Box

Anyone who knows me knows that I love gardening. I love growing my own vegetables and herbs. I love the look, feel and smell of natural foods. However, I have two very big problems: 1) I don't always know what to do with all the herbs I've managed to grow over the years and 2) I live in Maryland and can't grow herbs and vegetables for only a few months a year. . Needless to say, when Christie approached me about reviewing Natural Herbal Living magazine and Herb Box, I jumped at the chance. Natural Herbal Living magazine and Herb Box solve both of my problems. They have a subscription plan that allows you to learn about each herb not only on an intellectual level, but also on a physical level. I received a copy of the box of stinging nettles. At first, when this happened, my first thoughts were, "Nettles...you mean the things that used to hurt me so much when I was playing hide and seek in the woods as a kid?" What can they be used for? To my surprise, nettles can be used to treat joint pain, arthritis, urinary problems and hay fever (allergic rhinitis). (I have to admit that since I started drinking nettle tea, I haven't taken my allergy medication. The scientist in me wanted to design a study to see if I was simply suffering from a placebo effect .) Another thing I love about Natural Herbal Living Magazine and Herb Box is that they put everything you could want to know about a single herb in one central location. You can say goodbye to your Google searches. Personally, I recommend printing the magazines and putting them in a binder. I placed the binder on the shelf next to my other cookbooks. However, some people would prefer to keep them on their computer (you can load the PDF into any e-reader program). This...... middle of paper ...... pping and has a retail value of $40-50.
