Essay / Psychology – a career I want to pursue
For me, there is nothing more intriguing than being able to experience the mind in its complex form and understand why people do certain things. As we grow up, we are all indirectly involved in psychology, unconsciously studying human behavior in order to fit into our society. However, my deepest interest lies in understanding why and how people do this. Psychology spans a broad field, consisting of biological and social aspects that work together to provide us with truths about humans that we did not know in the past. From these different halves a great debate in psychology developed, the nature versus nurture debate. This variety of approaches to psychology appeals to me because I am excited about many different types of fields, for which I know the course will provide more knowledge. Thanks to psychology studies, I have the opportunity to develop the questions I asked myself from a very young age; why can't the autistic boy socialize the same way we do? By studying cognitive psychology at some level and applying it to my interests, I discovered that their visual working memory functions poorly, which is responsible for reading body language and social cues. So, if the communication is non-verbal, they may encounter social difficulties. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on “Why Violent Video Games Should Not Be Banned”? This has happened, a current example is obedience to authority in the Grenfell Tower tragedy: an issue examined in social psychology as part of a university level course. Due to my extensive research and the fact that I am also part of the psychology and sociology academy at my university, a fascination with specific areas of psychology has been established, such as abnormal psychology, approaches to autism and human motivation. I am currently studying two other A Levels: Sociology and Religious Studies. These two A levels contributed to the increase in psychological experience, with sociology providing explanations and theories about social relationships and social groups, allowing me to see how the human mind can be influenced by the social environment . And religious studies allows me to improve my debating skills, develop confidence in my own beliefs and be able to consider different approaches to a situation with respect. During my university studies, I expanded my knowledge inside and outside of the classroom, including reading Kahneman's famous psychology book on decision-making, "Thinking Fast and Slow" , “A restless spirit”, “A child”, “The man who had the wrong woman”. for a Hat” by Olivier Sacks, and “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”. These books consist primarily of nonfiction and fictional narratives related to clinical psychology, including manic-depressive illness, autism, and hallucinations. Reading these books was surprising, the fragility of the human spirit was shocking, and so I looked at how many people were experiencing something else. than the "norm", and it has been found that one in four people suffer from some sort of mental illness. My research also involves watching TED talks on psychology,.
