  • Essay / quality of relationships in home care - 1401

Illustrate the importance of the quality of relationships between those receiving care and the caregiver; the roles of people and interventions in primary care are equally important. The indication presented in this essay will serve to establish why the quality of the relationship affects the quality of care provided. The evidence is based on a case study presented in K101, Block 1 “Who Cares?” » a book published by The Open University and an interactive DVD also published by The Open University and other useful resources are referenced at the end of the essay. This essay will examine the case study of the relationship between Ann and Angus; the skills required for the role; specialized care necessary for individual needs and the involvement and relationship of the caregiver at home. First, a brief overview of the people mentioned in this essay, Ann, who is the daughter-in-law and Angus, the father-in-law who suffers from Parkinson's disease. Ann has cared for her father-in-law for many years and the relationship between them on the carer and carer side seemed comfortable and acceptable, but unfortunately this has put a strain on Ann, her family and her social life (K101, block 1). , Unit 1 and DVD). The relationship was not only between the carer and the cared for, but also between the other family members involved and in the case of Ann and Angus they lived together in the same house, with Ann's husband, Bob and their daughter. , Zoe. Ann did not seem to be coping well as Angus' health was deteriorating due to her own health and relationships with her family, Ann seemed reluctant to admit that she was caring for Angus, she was not not sure about receiving outside help, for example. .... middle of paper ...... we have good quality relationships between us that benefit everyone. It might be different if Angus had to be sent to a care home because he was so adamant about not going there. Therefore, staying in his own home and staying with his family brought him quality of life and well-being (K101, Resources, page 10, 11).REFERENCESDepartment for Work and Pensions. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/policy/ageing-society/full-of-life/. 11/12/11.Open University. 2010.
