Volunteering was also a way for me to give back to the community. Through volunteering, I was able to truly appreciate what people did for each other, no matter how small the action may seem. For example, translating something for a non-English speaker, and at one point, being in that situation, at the library, helped me understand that sometimes a helping hand is enough. It's difficult to ask for help when you don't know how to do it, but it's very easy to lend a hand even without the person asking for it verbally. The Westland Area Public Library never asked me to volunteer, Mrs. Mulhern never asked me to volunteer my time, but I found that doing it willingly was all I needed. needed. The help I was able to provide was enough for me, although there is never a reward for my actions, I never asked for anything in return. Volunteering allowed me to give back to the community I grew up with and loved so much.
