Essay / The Effects of Technology on Children - 668
This generation's technology has spread to the point of affecting even this generation's children. The reason this is so concerning is that this children's obsession with technology is not good for the necessary social growth that needs to be instilled from a young age. To further this point on how this can be considered harmful, a visual representation, in the form of a poster, will be created to further this point. A poster depicting a multitude of toddlers performing various activities but instead of what is expected of them (i.e. bottles, pacifiers, rattles), replacing them with modern technologies (i.e. i.e. iPods, cell phones, laptops). Using a poster depicting children interacting with different forms of technology will not only demonstrate the emotional aspect, but also persuade and inform about how technology affects younger generations. By placing children at the center of the presentation, it automatically gives the visual an ethos aspect. Whenever it comes to children, a protective instinct arises, whether it is danger or truth. Therefore, as stated, this will automatically add a layer of emotion. Since children will interact with technology, the idea that it is corrupting our younger generation is also presented. I will show 3 different children. A toddler in the crib and, instead of what is usually associated with a baby in a crib, a crib, I'm going to replace it with an iPod, a toddler using one of the recent social networks, and finally a toddler writing a essay . In addition to these contrasting elements, the attire they will wear will be suits or very formal clothing. This will only reinforce the idea that these baby qualities that suddenly appear... middle of paper... them. The days when parents said go play and that meant going outside and playing on a swing or coloring are quickly being replaced by Xbox games, where kids don't even have to leave their rooms. Therefore, in conclusion, the position of these children in what is normally a children's scene will further show the disconnect that technology plays on younger generations. This visual will have captured the ideas that are represented through the mockery of technology. Children should always behave like children and not be surrounded by a multitude of electronic and technological devices. If portrayed correctly, it will not only evoke the ethos and pathos of the negative side effects of mass technology use, but will also be informative. If not treated properly, it will continue to be a problem that will cause major problems for years to come..
