Mass media has the greatest impact on this generation through computers, television, radio and magazines. It affects the way we think, behave and interpret our environment. Since these four devices take up a large part of our lives, they also influence part of it. We constantly receive messages from the media and these messages tend to circulate widely. The majority of these messages tell us how we should dress, what we should look like physically and several other things. Since we see messages like these so often, they become embedded in our long-term memory. It's hard to avoid letting mass media intrude into our lives since it's all around us, whether in our homes, through our peers, or in the community at large. It is almost impossible to go a day without having some kind of mass communication object in our life. "The average person spends about 1,000 hours watching TV each year. When people invest so much time into something, we can't help but be affected by it. A lot of the shows we watch on television are broadcast to people similar to our age group. So when people watch TV shows, they feel like what they are watching is how they should dress and what their personality should be like. Acts like this mainly happen when we regularly see people we idolize on television and have a desire to reproduce them in middle of paper...... in our minds about what we should look like, which and Since many people do not meet these standards, many people have low self-esteem or eating disorders. Since the popularity of media has increased, the percentage of people who feel unacceptable about themselves has also increased. If our generation realized the percentage of unrealistic media we see, we wouldn't have as many problems with what's happening in this generation. Less money is needed to spread this misinformation and to help solve the problems created by this information.
