Essay / Legalize same-sex marriage - 1247
Everyone knows about marriage. We've heard about it, been there, or even been there. The idea of marriage is something given to us and something we look forward to since we were children, but what about those who want to marry the same sex. How is this possible? As you know, everything changes at one point or another, including marriage. This is why same-sex marriage should be legalized. We have reached a point where the idea of a “normal” marriage must change to accommodate an ever-changing society. Throughout history we always hear that marriage has always taken place between a man and a woman, whether since the Roman Empire, Muslims and the most talked about Christian religion, but if you look closely, you begin to see that these marriages took place for different reasons than today. Let's talk about marriage in ancient Western civilizations. At that time, marriage was just a method for kings to maintain power within their family. If these kings had no problem maintaining a royal lineage, then they would marry off their sons or daughters for the sole purpose of forming alliances and acquiring land. This didn't just happen in royal families. Many members of the lower classes married so they could have children who would help them work and run the family business. This was understandable at the time; However, these days we marry because we love someone and not because they have something that can help us move up the economic ladder. Love is the reason we get married, why should it be any different if the person you love is the same gender. As you can see, the history of marriage has already changed due to changes in society (Staff 1).Now that middle of paper......p://futureofchildren.org/publications/ journals/article/index.xml?journalid=37&articleid=107§ionid=692>.Lee, Justin.
