Essay / Themes of Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka - 1028
In the story, Gregor's mother calls him to come down to eat with the family, while his father "turns his back on his breakfast" (Kafka, 8 years old) showing that he is not interested in why his son is not at the table. Franz notes that the character who plays Gergor's father is a distant and taciturn man, just as Kafka's father was to him. Kafka was known to be a popular employee in his field of work. Gergor was implied to be an excellent worker when his family spoke to his employer. Gregor's mother said, "Mr. Director." Otherwise, how could Gregor miss a train! The young man has nothing on his mind except business. I'm almost angry that he never comes out at night. (Kafka, 15 years old). Both Franz and Gregor are known for being excellent employees and both don't want the job they are working for. This is clear evidence that Franz put his own life into practice.
