    The United States Constitution has an amendment process that was included in the Bill of Rights. The amendment allows Americans to make changes to the United States Constitution of September 17, 1789, which was ratified and signed into law (Zink 450). The amendment process allowed the constitution to change moderately, rather than being revised, and it was amended to adhere to current schedules and changes. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights that guarantees all U.S. citizens the right to keep and bear arms. This amendment gives citizens the right to own a firearm. The right to bear arms and gun control is the most controversial amendment that has sparked heated debate among Americans. The right to bear arms remains a burning issue in the United States. Every American citizen believes they have the right to own a firearm, as guaranteed by the Bill of Rights. I completely agree that all American citizens should be afforded their constitutional right to bear firearms. This constitutional right should nevertheless be subject to certain restrictions. After several reported cases of mass shootings against innocent people, American citizens decided to fight for their right to own guns. The Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting is the recent saddened mass shooting case that has outraged the public. In this shooting, 26 innocent lives were lost, including twenty children. After the mass shooting, the president called on Congress to pass stricter gun control laws. The point here is that a gun is a tool and not the cause of crimes and therefore Americans should not be denied their right to own a gun due to such cases.
