No one really knows what happened that day since the police only took into account the version of the sailors' group and barely tried to get the Mexican side of the story. Later that day, sailors went on a rampage, broke into the Carmen Theater, tore the costumes of the zoo patrons, beat the young people, and when the police arrived, they arrested the victims. The group of sailors returned the next evening with 200 allies where they terrorized and rounded up the young people of the neighborhood. The “police and sheriff said they were unable to find the sailors. Finally, they arrested nine sailors but released them without filing charges” (Acuna
