Essay / food and kitchen safety - 811
In today's discussion, I will detail the aspects of food and kitchen safety. Cited texts will be used in accordance with the guidelines given. I will also give a brief description of my own kitchen safety and food preparation habits. Sitting in my kitchen thinking about how I would begin this essay was no easy task. I looked around at all my utensils, frying pans, cutlery, pots, measuring cups, etc… and wondered how I did it. How can I ensure that the food I prepare is safe for me and my family, what precautions should I take to ensure I do not cross the bacterial threshold and combine it with meals prepared by me or my wife. What I can attest to is that it comes down to simple science and practice. First of all, I'm going to quote from across Chicago what to do and what not to do. According to Chicago Now: “Food safety can be boiled down to two precepts. First, cleanliness is next to godliness, the Great Pumpkin, the Master Comedian, or whatever you believe in. Second, keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold. For some strange reason, people keep their bathrooms so sterile that major surgery can be performed in them. However, their kitchens are potentially dangerous areas. Your kitchen should be kept clean. Clean and tidy would also be good, as it shows a penchant for organization, but cleanliness is of utmost importance. You need to ensure that the area (i.e. in this case the big toe/nail) should be clean by killing the back...... middle of paper ......e Proper precautions when handling hot liquids and foods (i.e., wear oven mitts for everything). Make sure there are no children around who might think the cutlery, glasses or plates are toys and pick them up and use them. Always pay close attention to the details around you and your environment. In conclusion, cooking can be very therapeutic and fun. Make the most of your cooking adventures because in all honesty, the final unknown lies between cooking, deep ocean exploration and space exploration. Untapped potentials that are vast and where you control your destiny over what new dishes you can invent or old favorites you can revamp. Remember home where the heart is, but with an empty stomach you might get lost on your journey home./
