Our children are growing up faster than ever before; therefore, their minds become more and more curious. Teenage pregnancy has been a key topic of discussion for too long and little or no action is taken to prevent such pregnancies. Many people believe that we need to do something different from the way our children perceive sex education. There have always been disputes about what type of sex education should be taught in American public schools. Many studies have been conducted to determine which classes are most effective in preventing teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Although there are hundreds of curricula, only two main options have been used in our schools; comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and abstinence-only education (AOE). These two alternatives differ greatly from each other, as do the people who support them. Although these are the two most popular courses, the one that has been favored for a very long time is abstinence-only education. Been funded by the federal government for more than a few decades; AOE has a number of advantages over CSE programs. The results, however, were not so prodigious.
