    Aeneas is a Trojan leader, born to the mortal Anchises and the goddess of beauty and love, Venus. Thanks to his parents, Aeneas benefited from his survival of the Trojan War and the beginning of the rule of the Roman Empire. From the beginning of the Aeneid, it is clear that Aeneas is a confident, determined, and proud man. He is a leader of men and, to many, he is considered a hero for several reasons. Throughout the book, however, various scenes show different sides of Aeneas. Therefore, it is difficult to say what kind of hero he is overall. Aeneas, being the son of a goddess, makes him an ideal candidate to become a leader and hero. Gods and goddesses are known to alter the destinies of characters due to their personal tastes and interests. It is clear that Aeneas' survival at the siege of Troy may not have had to do with his own talent, but rather his relationship with the gods. Aeneas accepts his fate and willingly obeys the gods throughout the Aeneid. He is given the goal of founding the Roman Empire and he never stops trying to achieve it, even if it means he has to do it. ...
