Mechanical engineering is very important in today's world because it is used daily in some of the most important inventions, for example vehicles are used for transportation in the daily life. Engineering has innovated the world by changing the way the world lives every day and advancing machines and technology. It is used daily in almost everything; it has influenced virtually everything, from air conditioning to light bulbs in homes. Mechanical engineers work and invent machines for the production of cars and the process used in their manufacturing, and turn it into an automated process using robotic arms that assemble them in factories. This type of engineering is also used to design and assemble a car's most important functions, such as the engine or wheels that make the car move and start. Overall, mechanical engineering is used daily in everyday life and in cars. People use mechanical engineering every day at work, in transportation and in their own homes. “In 1864, Michaux was approached by three men who wanted him to make parts for a balance bike” (Davis-Hart 210). The bicycle is an old machine invented around 1864 and still used today either for exercise or for transportation. The balance bike was an intermediate step for today's bicycle; it was invented in 1817 and made transportation much faster than simply walking or using a horse for transportation. This invention was better than earlier inventions similar to this because the handlebars allowed the rider to move the front wheel of the machine from left to right to change the direction of the bike's steering.
