Essay / Who are you and what are you doing here? Rhetoric...
Studying a university degree is one of the greatest achievements of many people around the world. But, according to Mark Edmunson, an American degree does not necessarily mean studying and working hard. Getting a degree in the United States involves dealing with external factors that work against the real purpose of education. The welcome speech that most of us listen to when we start college is the first prank the author uses to argue that the American education system is not converging toward a well-educated society. Narrating events in a sarcastic manner is the tone the author uses to explain many of his arguments. Mark Edmunson uses emotional appeals to deliver an essay to people who have attended college at any time in their lives or those who have been involved in the American education system. The beginning of the essay "WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS" is the main sign that Edmunson's statement has a kairos because it is a sentence to begin in the context narrated by the author and his composition. But also, the author establishes credibility when he shares his experiences at the College as a student and professor. This means that the evidence presented in the newspaper is primary sources coming from the mouth of someone involved in the American education system. From my perspective, the question “Who are you and what are you doing here?” » The essay innovates in style to describe and analyze the events that many people have experienced at any point in their lives. Throughout reading this essay, I found points of agreement and disagreement with the author's opinion. In the following paragraphs, I will present my perception of this composition. Firstly, I liked the way the author uses his experiences to tell...... middle of article...... education system, he does refer to how the benefits of this system can exceed the failures shown in the document. In conclusion, although I partially disagree with some aspects of the article, it was with great pleasure that I read it because I found the way in which the author relates education to many characteristics of innovation in American culture. Furthermore, it is impressive how the author connects his life memories with the weakness of the field in which he works. The events that most of us have experienced have been transformed into strong arguments by the author. Education is one of the pillars of modern countries. Thus, Mark Edmuson's message should be considered as the foundation for future educational strategies. The way he expresses his thoughts shows a great desire to see an education system evolve in tandem with the well-being of society..
