    Many immigrants from all over the world have wanted or are living in the United States. The government has heard citizens' complaints about these immigrants and the choice of whether or not to close the borders. Even though many people want to close the U.S. border due to the increase in population, the United States should not do so because it already has laws in place to handle immigrants who come to the United States to seek refuge. free from oppression. There are many immigration laws. in the United States, such as the green card, the immigration bill and the Gentlemen's Agreement. This helps protect the benefits afforded to citizens by immigrants who come to the United States, even though many of these citizens abuse these benefits with pride; “Compassion and fairness ‐‐” (Leppala), these two ideas clashed in the debate with American immigrants. The government has yet to pass most immigration laws for many reasons, including population growth. They're trying to find a way for immigrants to become citizens more easily, making sure no one has to wait in line. The government also ensures that criminals or anyone with a criminal record do not receive this benefit. The president has yet to see or sign the immigration bill because of these arguments and is trying to pass it. “…the Senate, pass it through the House and bring it to the President’s desk…” (Cook), later in the passage he explains how this can bring many miracles to the United States. The United States offers freedom to all, which is why many people come to the United States to escape oppression. Most countries are communist or dictatorial countries that deprive their citizens of their freedoms or rights. The United States is different from ...... middle of paper ...... these immigrants. It would be a shame if the land of the brave did not allow immigrants fleeing oppression to cross the border.
