Some may be living the so-called “American Dream” and are financially comfortable, while others are extremely poor. However, what we mainly see in the media is the lifestyle of the extremely rich and famous. Wealth and fame can be seen everywhere on television, in the news, and in magazines. This lifestyle may seem unrealistic to many, but Americans are fascinated by money and lavish lifestyles. » In the movie Babel, we can see how all minority cultures live a poor and lower class life. However, even American couples who live in another country are able to stand out for their wealth. While the couple was on the bus, the woman was shot and the bus continued to drive since no one realized they had been shot. After being shot, she turned to her husband who, frightened, reacted quickly and asked the bus to stop. Since there was no hospital nearby, they had to stop in a small town and try to find medical help. When they arrived in the small town, the bus was no longer running, the driver wanted to save gas, so the tourists were getting impatient with the couple. They no longer cared about the couple, they only worried about themselves in the heat, so they left the couple behind. This makes the American tourist seem selfish and self-centered in the film. While the couple was in the small town, they weren't grateful
