Maybe it should be, but the sad truth is that Americans are among the unhealthiest people in the world. Although we live in a country with great economic power and technological advancement, we also live in a country with the smallest fund of practical knowledge regarding nutrition. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), obesity among adults has increased by 60% over the past twenty years and obesity among children has tripled over the past thirty years. A staggering 33% of American adults are obese, and obesity-related deaths have climbed to more than 300,000 per year. The American diet and lifestyle is different from that of any healthier country.
