When someone reads Divergent, they are fascinated by a world of morality, family, loss, love, war, but most of all a journey of self-discovery . Our entire class was captivated by the exhilarating journey Tris experienced and eagerly awaited the chance to see Divergent come to life on the big screen. Our expectations for this film were pretty high, but unfortunately our expectations were thrown into the abyss, just like Al. The first problem with the film adaptation was the setting. At first it was excellent; the city was extremely accurate and the Abnegation sector was exactly as I imagined it. However, all my happiness was lost when we entered the Dauntless headquarters. Veronica Roth so eloquently described the rushing flow of the sinkhole and the crisp sound of the water hitting the sides of the walls; where was it in the movie? There was a sinkhole yes, but I didn't hear that incredible sound Veronica spoke of. For some, this is a minor detail. Who really cares about decor anyway? It's not like it changes the movie.
