Hazel – Main character, has cancer, must have an oxygen tank, loves Augustus from the start, semi-shy, and has a bit of a dark side, has a GED and goes to community college, but very intelligent and well organized, she feels like a "grenade". Augustus - Bold, direct, a bit of a dark side, Isaac's friend, gorgeous, was athletic, didn't go to school in a year, lost half his leg because of cancer, Hazel's parents want Hazel to make friends, very pushy, caring, loving, worried, afraid of losing their daughter, father cries a lot, mother is stability, support Hazel and Gus, they just want to spend as much time with her as possible, very sympathetic to Augustus' death. Augustus' parents They have "encouragement" all around their house, caring, protective, take a liking to Hazel, are supportive of them being a couple, worried and scared when they find out Gus has cancer again. Isaac - Hazel's friend, also has cancer, is about to have an operation that will make him blind, becomes good friends with Hazel, caring, friendly, sometimes has a temper when upset, the kind of person who listens to everyone's problems and always cares. Internal Conflict – The main internal conflict is that Hazel feels like a “grenade”. When she dies, she wants to leave behind as little suffering as possible for her loved ones. In doing so, she pushes away people like her parents, she worries because they devote so much time to her. That when she dies, she will be extremely hurt and a possible divorce if things go wrong. While trying to push people away like she does, Hazel meets Augustus. As Augustus tries hard to win Hazel over with his charming charisma, it slowly works. As their relationship progresses, Hazel always pushes middle of paper...... related to An Imperial Affliction which he was writing for her. Wanting to know why she is going to visit Auguste's parents, they tell her that she is welcome. Although she doesn't find anything anywhere, Auguste's father finds a notebook with missing pages. Hazel thinks he could have sent them to Mr. Van Houten and asked his old assistant to take a look. Resolution - A few days after contacting her former assistant, she goes to visit Mr. Van Houten, she finds open on the table. Once home, she emails Hazel. Augustus wanted Mr. Van Houten to at least answer Hazel's questions and send them to her as his final request. In his letter to Mr. Van Houten, Augustus spoke of true heroes in the world like Hazel. Augustus talked about how much he loved Hazel, how beautiful and charming she was. Hazel now knowing what Auguste's last words and wishes were ultimately made her happier..
