  • Essay / What I Learned About Myself - 528

Throughout this semester, I have learned a lot about myself in many different aspects. I learned that I am south direction and blue color. On the one hand, I know I want to hear everyone's opinion before making a decision. I learned things about my personality that will be beneficial and things that won't be very useful when working in a group. For example, I am a very cooperative person but I am also very dependent on others for my ideas. I also learned that I am a collaborator when it comes to being a team player. I try to keep the group focused on the goals and purpose of the activity. I am also a team player who will do whatever it takes to get the team to achieve the end goal. Throughout the semester, I improved my skills and realized areas I need to improve in communication, group work and organization. Throughout the semester, I became a more confident public speaker. The first task we had to do for our education class was to introduce ourselves. I practiced what I was going to say and how I was going to say it this weekend. However, when I stood up to give my presentation, my mind went completely blank. Throughout the semester, I learned what I needed to have with me when I presented, so that I didn't get confused about what I wanted to say. At first, when I stood up to present, my heart was pounding and my hands were shaking. Now I make sure to breathe and tell myself that I know what I'm going to talk about. So I still don't speak in public but I feel more comfortable doing it. I need to work on being more confident when I have to present a topic. Talking to Ms. Nealy after my mini-lesson, I feel more confident talking about a math concept than any other topic. Throughout the semester, my writing skills improved greatly. The thing I need to work on is managing my time better so that I have more time to edit my papers. My teamwork style is that of a collaborator, which I saw coming out of me when we worked as a group. This semester I've had some great experiences working in groups and some that weren't as good..
