In an environment where businesses are in a fishbowl and everyone can see everything, it is important to have specific rules and regulations in place. It is equally important that employees have well-defined goals and detailed codes of ethics to follow in order to behave according to their specific company's culture. Without standards and a written code of ethics, managers would struggle to provide clear and consistent goals to employees. Some of the elements that need to be identified by management include: Clarifying issues, stakeholder analysis, identifying values, resolving issues, handling objections and implementing the resolution. An important ethical question that arises in my call center is called “camping.” This involves manipulating the telephone system to avoid taking calls.
