The language of music is known and spoken by many people around the world. Despite the different styles and types of music, people around the world can connect to the rhythms, dynamics and stories told through music. Schools and educational programs have discussed the philosophy behind the relationship between music education and students' ability to excel in their studies. Not only did they examine the effect or relationship that learning fine arts has on students' grades, but they also studied the effect it has on people's lives. In studies done by various scientists, it was found that those who studied music also excelled in academic studies. David J. Skorton said that by studying music and the arts, "they help us explore what it means to be human" and while some may disagree, music is much more than sound. Aspiring young musicians can begin studying music at the age of five. . It is during these early years that they develop their basic knowledge of music, which they then develop into a good understanding. These young musicians typically choose to pursue a career in music, whether in a teaching setting or as a performance specialization. Although music is a career path, it can also be an educational experience for anyone, regardless of their career aspirations. Studying music is proven to develop both sides of the brain, unlike math or science, which primarily focuses on the left side of the brain. Having the opportunity to express yourself and learn about musical creativity promotes healthy brain development. These young musicians are learning these things and other beneficial attributes. Music is more than just a sound, it is a way of learning and growing in life. Every student should have the opportunity to study a classical instrument, if not for the music, then for the knowledge it provides. Music is a way to fill the void in people's lives. It can bring meaning and purpose because of the joy it brings to others. Even if a person's career path isn't in music, studying it can help them develop traits that are useful in everyday situations.
