    But the film actually reminded me of a question I've always had: to what extent can we, as somewhere who are not involved in the events, criticize people, especially criminals, who participated in the story? As people of the 21st century, we know that slavery is unjust and horrible because we grew up in a society where love and peace were honored. When I asked myself what I would do if I were Edwin Epps, Marry Epps or William Ford, I began to wonder how much can I criticize these people when cruelty was the norm, and all that what these people did was actually follow the standard. . Although it would be right and courageous to stand up for black people, not everyone is courageous and willing to challenge society. The film reminded me to have my own judgment and not blindly follow what everyone considers the norm. This film also made me wonder: years from now, to what extent today's social norm would be considered cruel and
