Friends are your family - Original writingMya stared at the wall wondering what the next three years had in store for her. Doubts crossed her mind, would she enjoy her new start? Would she find friends just as special as her previous ones and, more importantly, finally fit into the diverse and independent lifestyle here? These thoughts were then disrupted by a knock at the door, followed by the entrance of his mother. Mya jumped up and smiled trying to hide the worries that were running through her mind, hugged and kissed her mother then watched her leave. She couldn't show weakness, not now. It was Mya who was determined to move when she discovered her father had an opportunity for a 3-year internship in a dynamic and exciting new city. However, it was only now that she realized how "different" everything was becoming. BEEP BEEP BEEP The sound echoed in Mya's mind, keeping her from sleeping another second. She turned off the alarm, stared at the ceiling, and wondered if she should drag herself out of bed and finally start high school. As always, if she feared something, she would do anything to push it away. It was his way of dealing with problems. Mya found it easier to ignore her problems. She had been through so much in the past, which was a big part of why she was conscious about who she would open up to. However, she was out of excuses that her mother would believe for postponing school, so she had no choice today but to finally face her fear. A feeling of nausea rose in Mya's stomach as she walked around the classroom; she looked around trying to find a face. It looked inviting, but it was too late, everyone seemed to have already established friendships. The lesson began to drag on, Mya's mind began to drift out of the classroom, as she looked out the window, memories of the old school came flooding back.
