There are many symptoms of concussions that can greatly affect people physically and mentally. Most concussion symptoms occur very early, usually within the first few days or weeks. Headaches, nausea or vomiting, balance problems, blurred vision and lack of energy are just some of the physical symptoms that occur in people with concussions (“Injury Prevention and Control: Head Injuries”) . These symptoms not only affect those who have suffered a concussion, but can also affect others who are at risk because they cannot perform simple tasks safely (like driving). Many emotional symptoms are also common in those who experience a concussion. Loss of consciousness may even occur briefly in people with a concussion. There are many types of symptoms, ranging from mild to severe, but all can have major health consequences and are one of the main reasons why concussions are becoming a growing problem.
