Essay / All Children Deserve an Education - 775
Diversity has become an essential part of the philosophy I have developed as an aspiring educator. Through diverse experiences in my life, I can appreciate how different cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds can positively impact each student's educational experience. In my opinion, diversity integrates poverty, race, and equality with the ultimate goal of long-term success in a student's life. Regardless of race, socioeconomic status, and gender, every child should have the opportunity to succeed and reach their potential. In my experience with Special Olympics floor hockey, all of the volunteers and coaches were exceptional in providing a quality environment for the participants. I was intrigued when I arrived at St. Mary's because I didn't know how Special Olympics floor hockey had been changed. Immediately, I was approached by two participants who wanted to spend time with me. The puck was a felt disc with a hole in it and the stick was straight with a felt end. I had never worked with a Special Olympics program before, so I was excited to see how the workouts would go. The first drill was a simple passing drill ending with a shot on goal. The goalies wore full padding and I felt like they were the ones I could relate to the most, having been a goalie for most of my hockey childhood. They were extremely kind and receptive to the advice I gave them. I was impressed by the patience with which all the volunteers showed the students during the exercises. I was delighted to have been part of this experience that I will carry throughout my professional career. Another experience I learned during my educational journey is the importance of multicultural education. “Multicultural education advocates the belief that students in the middle of the paper consume resources more intensively than those in urban areas. That being said, I believe disadvantaged families are migrating from urban areas due to the cost of living. It is because of these findings that we, as educators, must have concrete, federally mandated strategies in the classroom and be trained in how to create educational opportunities to meet the needs of all. In conclusion, through my experiences and research, the diversity of the American education system climate must be addressed to provide all children with an abundant opportunity to live the American dream. Through the collaboration of state and federal government agencies, we can come together to create programs that give every child an equal opportunity for long-term success. Perhaps without these valuable experiences, I would not be able to judge the extent of my impact on the children I have touched..
