Actions are caused by personal choices, so actions indeed speak louder than words. In today's society, people make various decisions throughout their daily lives. These decisions often lead to different outcomes and sometimes, they can cause a person to suffer the consequences of their choices. Some people believe that everything happens for a reason; that everything happens because of destiny. Others disagree because they view their decisions as determining what fate has in store for them in the future and therefore believe that they are in control of their own destiny. In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, two star-crossed lovers betrayed their own families so they could be together. Since Romeo and Juliet are both young, they have made endless sacrifices and decisions just to be together without considering the consequences. All their sacrifices were in vain as their tragic conclusion was their own death. Although fate played a large role in the star-crossed lovers' downfall, Romeo and Juliet paid the consequences of their terrible decisions due to their reckless rebellion which ultimately led to their catastrophic end. In the early events that occur in the play, the readers have already seen poor choices from Romeo and Juliet that ultimately lead to their deaths. After Romeo learned that Juliet is a Capulet, an enemy of his family, he still chose to return to the Capulets after the party in hopes of catching a glimpse of her as he wondered "Can I move on when my heart is [in the Capulets]?” (II.i.1-2). Romeo's words reveal that he has found the love of his life. He says he can't leave because of Juliette. He must return to the Capulet orchard to find his h...... middle of paper...... their love lacked wisdom and so it brought them misfortune - it brought them tragedy. Their union created devastating endings, thus creating the whole point of Shakespeare's play. The star-crossed lovers made choices that changed what fate had in store for them. They took charge of their own destiny by making decisions together, which led them to take a path with consequences that brought them suffering. In reality, each action leads to another. Everything is connected and everything leads to an end result. Unless the world stops spinning, everything in an individual's life will consist of decisions made daily. Ultimately, life is indeed short and so if a person wants to make the most of it, risks and decisions must be made, regardless of the outcome, because life can disappear in the blink of an eye, all like tragic death. of Juliet and her dear Romeo.
