    Young people's thriving brains easily adapt to the habit of task switching, which diminishes their ability to pay attention. Our generation has difficulty maintaining sustained attention, for example while engaging in a novel. Larry Lannom, vice president of the Corporation for National Research Initiatives, says that “people need to learn to think critically and focus. If so, the network is a rich source of information. If they are not, it will become a source of misinformation and mindless distraction” (“Teens, Technology, and Human Potential in 2020”). This applies to our generation, especially those who play video games and can distract themselves in anything. Sustained attention is not something these players agree with and will struggle with later in life.
