Religion is a common theme that has brought people of all races and backgrounds together. It gave people meaning and hope to those who were desperate. Religions have transcended culture and time, unbinding people who believe in a higher power and choose to place their lives in the hands of the divine. Although not all religions, practices and styles of worship are the same. Religions serve a greater purpose in inspiring people to lead moral and courageous lives. All world religions focus on holy living to please and glorify some sort of deity. The Oxford Handbook of Religion explains that religions have “always been global, in the sense that religious communities and traditions have always maintained permeable boundaries. They moved, moved, and interacted with each other all over the world” (Oxford Handbook). The world's religions contain "traditions [that] claim ultimate anchors of truth that are immutable" (Oxford Handbook). The world's three great religions, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, all contain an element of truth that unites the drudgery of their beliefs. The Old Testament is a common source of information that connects the heritage, traditions, and moral commandments of these three great religions. Islam is a religion that many people believe has caused a lot of trouble and unrest, and often Christians want nothing to do with Islamic traditions. . The idea that Islam has nothing in common with Jewish and Christian traditions is a false assumption. The Old Testament is the link that connects Islam to Judaism and Christianity.
