    Art galleries and museums are buildings or spaces used exclusively for exhibition and art education, but that's not all . Galleries and museums are an integral part of our society. Art itself transcends diversity and cultural differences; Museums and galleries that display works of art offer us insight into different cultures, backgrounds and communities in a prejudice-free environment. They also have a significant impact on the local and national economy. According to Americans for the Arts' 2007 Arts & Economic Prosperity III report, in Nashville alone, the arts and culture industry provides 5,667 full-time jobs and generates $15.64 million in revenue for local and state governments. While so much depends on the prosperity of these institutions, it is very important for these places to maintain a strong web presence. In doing so, it will help attract more visitors to these essential establishments. After reviewing the websites of the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and the National Gallery of Art, it is evident that both websites provide a strong web presence to their physical counterparts. I intend to compare and contrast the overall design, exhibit content, and visitor information sections of each museum's website. With the direction technology has taken us, it is very important that establishments have a website. An attractive, user-friendly design is an integral part of attracting visitors to an institution. Looking at the website of the Frist Center and the National Gallery of Art, or NGA for short, you notice that both pages are designed with a vertical navigation layout; the target content being centered. Both the Frist and the National Gallery of Art have extremely well-developed websites.
