Unfortunately, most don't understand what marketing is. What is marketing? What are marketers responsible for? More or less, all marketing uses the same ideals. Marketing is the creation of advertisements to the public. Marketers have only one responsibility: to get the audience to not only understand and want, but also need the company's product/service. For this reason, marketing requires creativity (source 2). Advertisements should be personalized (source 8), because a marketer is nothing more than a professional storyteller. For a business to sell and thrive, it not only needs a story to tell, but someone to tell that story in a way that people want to listen to. Marketing before the Internet was child's play. People had to listen to radio advertisements and check billboards for new information. People would receive AND read their direct mail. Then the Internet arrived. In the beginning, people loved email and everything it had to offer (Source 1). Nowadays, marketers have ruined email so much that email domains are forced to have a spam filter for their users. Every businessman or woman needs to understand how to market their business. First of all, in today's technological age, context matters more than content (Source 7). How a business markets its product/service is the most crucial element in keeping its head above water. For example, if a company advertises through tumblr, a popular social networking site, they should offer some form of animated .gif to get their message across in a way that entertains the consumer. Twitter stock fell 24% on February 5, 2014. This scared investors and they wanted to know what was going on, so Yahoo Finance published this story to answer some questions. To be bluntly honest, Yahoo Finance couldn't be more wrong. Social media and social networking are not on the decline, they are on the rise! Unfortunately, some social media sites may be experiencing the beginning of the end (as all social networks do, e.g. Myspace). But overall, social media is not only the platform users spend the most time on, but they also devote the most energy to it.
