Essay / Margin Call, the Movie - 1790
Margin Call depicts a realistic view of what goes on inside a Wall Street firm. This is a company that is downsizing due to a crisis. One of the victims, Eric Dale, was working on a major analysis when he was fired. He gives his colleague Peter Sullivan his USB stick, which contains the main analysis. Peter stays late, fixes problems, and calls his coworkers and bosses about the financial disaster he's discovered. He had discovered that the company was behind the crash. He tries to contact Eric, without success. He then calls his colleagues Seth Bregman and Will Emerson, who are at a bar, and tells them they need to come back to the office in case of an emergency. After showing Will the situation, John Tuld, the CEO, quickly hears about it. They all hold a conference and decide that the company will sell all the mortgages, which have little or no value. After the sale was made, the company tried to salvage its reputation by claiming that this problem was unavoidable. Eric Dale was the former head of risk management. Although he is the least featured character in the film, he is the most important character. In one of the film's first scenes, Lauren Bratberg fired him, unplugged his cell phone, packed up his belongings, and had him escorted out of the company building by security. Before he takes the elevator down to go home, Peter and Seth approach him and thank him for his work at the company. Eric hands Peter a USB drive before the elevator door closes and tells him, "Be careful." These two words constitute the composition of the entire film. Peter finds out that Eric worked on different charts and data, which showed that businesses were on the verge of collapse and that they needed...... middle of paper ...... he is completely unaware of what is happening. around him. In Margin Call's conclusion, the business has ended entirely. Eric Dale and Peter Sullivan are the characters who have remained loyal to the firm. They genuinely cared about what was best for the company and their colleagues. They are doing everything they can to save the company. While they care about their colleagues and the company, other characters are the exact opposite. Seth Bregman, Jared Cohen, Will Emerson, Sam Rogers and John Tuld were the exact opposite of Eric and Peter. They only cared about themselves and how much money they could get out of the business before it collapsed. They didn't even care if their colleagues were in trouble, as long as they had money, they were happy. Ultimately, Margin Call is a realistic view of what happens inside a Wall Street firm and the realistic problems it might encounter..
