Essay / A historical comparison of the Salem Witch Trials and...
Throughout history, it has been shown that history has a tendency to repeat itself. In 1692, both men and women were accused of witchcraft, whether they were guilty or not. The place where this was happening was Salem, Massachusetts, a town full of Puritans from Europe. Witchcraft was one of the worst crimes an individual could commit. This often led to the hanging or exile of people from the church. Many people were hanged, even though they were innocent. Many years later, during World War II, there was much speculation about communists and their impact in America. This era was known as the Era of McCarthyism, as Senator McCarthy led America into an anti-communist state. In particular, this concerns a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, Milo Radulovich, who was discharged from the Air Force because his father had read a Serbian newspaper, as he was from Serbian origin, according to the Air Force. his was pro-communism, since the newspaper favored communism. The Air Force also believed that Milo was pro-communist because his sister had peacefully protested outside a hotel that did not allow a communist member to stay. Milo was born and raised in Michigan, he also served his country with dedication, he had no form of favor in communism. but he was automatically placed under the impression that he supported communism and fought for it because his father was reading a newspaper from another country and his sister was protesting for equal rights. Neither Milo nor his family did anything wrong. Thinking in assumptions leads to stereotypes. In 1692, part of the Puritan community experienced a tragedy in their community that they thought would never happen. Since they worshiped God and God was the most praised person...... middle of paper .... ..Pearl Harbor. The acts were committed by a group of Muslim extremists. This term “Muslim extremist” has been misinterpreted by the Americans. A large number of people believe that every Muslim is an extremist and that at any time, any Muslim can attack. This is not true, just because you are Muslim does not mean you are a terrorist. History repeats itself, but not in all situations, when it comes to accusing people. People find it easy to blame other people for problems that occur. The McCarthy era, people accused communists, the witch trial era, people accused innocent people of being witches, and in the current situation, people accused Muslims of being terrorists. People like to rely on assumptions, mainly because it's easy to blame someone for something rather than base it on facts. Works Citedhttps://www.123helpme.com/view.asp?id=23266
