    It's hard to remember a time without iTunes. For many people, especially the younger generation, iTunes has always been a part of people's lives. When it launched on April 28, 2003, iTunes was destined to change the world of music and technology forever (Griggs & Leopold). At first, songs were available as instant downloads for as little as ninety-nine cents and albums for less than ten dollars. iTunes changed the way music was distributed and marketed. With the release of iTunes, music consumers can now download music digitally with the click of a button. Consumers no longer needed to leave the comfort of their homes to purchase or listen to a song or album. Before iTunes and digital music, consumers had to buy an entire album or record, even if they only liked one of the songs. iTunes revolutionized music by marketing the single. iTunes has certainly made an impact on the music world, not only making songs and albums more accessible and affordable to consumers, but also changing the listener as a whole, both socially and culturally. Every new technology comes with gains and losses. With the creation of iTunes, consumers were able to more easily browse and instantly search millions of songs and albums. Listeners can now listen to and purchase any song or album with the click of a button. Consumers would no longer have to go to a store or record store to buy music. Consumers no longer have to search through thousands of albums and records in stores to find the music they want. In many ways, iTunes has made purchasing music easier, but by revolutionizing music distribution, iTunes has removed the experience and emotional aspect associated with purchasing new music. iTunes changed worship...... middle of paper...... It revolutionized the distribution and marketing of music. Digital media hasn't been the same since iTunes launched in 2003. Today, as society wants the latest technology and wants to do things the quickest and easiest way, iTunes adapts perfectly to the world of music. iTunes makes it easy to access and purchase millions of songs and albums. Despite its success, iTunes has changed the way people listen, buy and enjoy music. The experiences people have with music have changed dramatically since before iTunes came out, and people now enjoy music in a completely different environment.
