  • Essay / The Return - The Animal in the Cage - 753

The ReturnThe Animal in the CageHell, what a place to be. A place with the sweet sound of hundreds of thousands of people screaming in agony, while my children torture their helpless souls. This is my house. This is my paradise. And I'm locked in a cage with my asshole older brother who's been pissing me off for way too long. Well, he pissed me off. I've been fighting with Michael for two and a half years, and the other six months I've been trying to crawl out of here. Today, after three years of waiting, I am leaving. The alarm goes off at 7:30 in the morning. Nick wakes up with a sudden shock, beads of sweat dripping from his forehead. He got up and walked to the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face. “Pull yourself together, Nick.” he whispered to himself. He still dreams of the days when he was Lucifer's meat suit, but it's never been this bad. It has never been so real. But he knew it was bad, because he wasn't just dreaming of Lucifer, he was Lucifer. A splitting headache ripped through him, as if someone had split his skull open and jabbed his brain. Nick rummaged through the medicine cabinet for some aspirin, took two, and then gulped down some water. "Nick? Is everything okay?" » asked Alex, who was still in bed, right next to Nick. He was breathing heavily. "I'm fine," he replied, hoping she wouldn't ask anything else, "just a bad dream and a headache." he added. “I’m going to go make some breakfast, do you want me to make you something?” “No, it’s okay, I’m not hungry,” Nick replied. The truth was Nick was starving but didn't want to eat because he knew if he went down to the kitchen there would be more questions about what it was. continues.Half an hour...... middle of paper...... he checked the time, it was 2:57 in the morning. Nick was trying to call a nurse but no one seemed to answer. He dialed his house number but there was no reception so he couldn't get through. Then the lights flickered slightly, Nick looked up but everything seemed fine now, then he realized he really needed to go to the bathroom. As he walked towards the bathroom door, Nick felt like he was being watched, but no one else was there, he was alone in his room. As he entered the bathroom, he splashed cold water on his face and heard someone say, "Oh come on. Pull yourself together, Nick." Nick looked up in shock, looking directly into the mirror. He saw his own reflection, but at the same time it wasn't him. The man in the mirror had scars all over his face, his eyes burned with evil, and then he smiled. "Hey Nick, it's been a while. I missed you."."
